Good news is that the Cohesion Fund will remain an important part of the EU’s activities after 2020. In May 2018 the European Commission put forward a proposal about its future and this proposal is debated at the moment. It is planned that the Cohesion Fund will continue to support investment in job creation. The priority would be to promote a greener, low-carbon economy and to connect the regions of Europe. At the same time, large companies, airport infrastructure improvements (except in the remote regions) and certain waste management operations (such as landfills) could not be supported.
